In a survey, Hamburg was once again voted Germany’s most romantic city – just in time for Valentine’s Day. Which city came in 2nd place.
Hamburg – Enjoy a canal tour through the Speicherstadt, stroll through the Planten un Blomen park as a couple or marvel at the sunset at the port: the city of Hamburg offers numerous places and activities for picturesque moments as a couple. That’s why the Hanseatic city was voted the most romantic city in Germany in a current ranking, just in time for Valentine’s Day – for the second time in a row.

Valentine’s Day poll reveals: Hamburg is the most romantic city in Germany
Lots of water, a number of bridges and diverse excursion destinations for the adventurous make Hamburg a magnet for lovers – some would even call the Hanseatic city the German Venice. After all, with a total of 2,500 bridges, Hamburg has the most water overpasses in Europe and clearly overshadows the Italian city with around 400 bridges.
But that’s not the only way the northern German city scores. According to an online survey by the opinion research institute “YouGov”, Hamburg is also considered the most likeable metropolis in Germany. In addition, the Hanseatic city is represented twice in the top 5 of the most popular German travel destinations and also attracts tourists to the Alster with the “Four Seasons” voted Germany’s best hotel.
Ranking by Free Now: Hamburg the most romantic – which cities end up in the following places?
In a representative survey by the mobility service provider “Free Now” for Valentine’s Day, these praises can now be continued even further. Because in this, the participants voted Hamburg the most romantic city in Germany for the second time in a row. According to a Free Now press release, the survey was conducted in January 2023 by the opinion research institute Kantar on behalf of the company. In the course of this T-Online according to online interviews with 6100 people in ten countries, including Germany.
