Since the Corona pandemic, many people have been working regularly and sometimes even predominantly from home. At the online retailer Otto in Hamburg, around 5,000 employees will no longer be able to work quite as flexibly as before, which is causing criticism among employees.
Until now, the different teams at Otto in Hamburg were allowed to decide for themselves how much they would work from home and how much they would work in person. This will change from January. Then there should be a 50 percent attendance requirement. A test phase is initially planned to see how things will continue in the long term. According to a company spokesman, the reason for the change is that certain agreements can be made easier, better and faster in person.
Employees criticize the new regulation
The employees were informed about the new regulation at the end of last week via an article on the intranet. Since then, around 200 of 5,000 employees have already commented critically on the change in the comment column under the article alone.
Family life designed for home office
According to the company spokesman, many have designed their family life around working from home. You would now have to reorganize yourself. There will be a big meeting with all employees and the board on Thursday. Employees can then ask questions and express their criticism.
