Hamburg: Hamburg CDU elects Thering as top candidate

Status: 07.09.2024 14:11

In about six months, the people of Hamburg will elect a new parliament. The CDU Hamburg has nominated its candidates for this. State and parliamentary group leader Dennis Thering is number one on the list.

With around 92 percent approval, he is now the official top candidate of the Hamburg CDU for the state election. Under the motto “get to work,” Thering wants to lead the Union into the three-way battle with the SPD and the Greens. The goal: government responsibility.

Thering: Making Hamburg a little better every day

He wants to make Hamburg a little better every day, says Thering. “Strassenmeister Peter Tschentscher” does not give any impulses, does not make any decisions. Important projects such as the A26-East port motorway or the replacement of the dilapidated Köhlbrand Bridge are taking far too long. The Senate is a brake on the port. When it comes to internal security, too, it must be recognized that the problem is not the knives, but the people.

The CDU, for example, wants to provide other impetus with more parking spaces, a change in migration policy and subsidies for first-time home ownership. “We can do it and we will do it,” stressed Thering at the end of his speech.

Second place on the list for Treuenfels-Frowein

Anna von Treuenfels-Frowein was elected in second place with almost 80 percent of the vote. She had only recently switched from the FDP to the CDU. The CDU’s election program is to be adopted in November. In the last state election in 2020, the CDU achieved its historically worst result in Hamburg with 11.2 percent.
