Israeli Media: Hamas’s Sophistication is Beyond Estimates, Has Detailed Information on the IDF Paratrooper Brigade
TRIBUNNEWS.COM – Israeli media report, Yedioth Ahranoth, stated that Hamas, organizationally and infrastructurally, has capabilities beyond the expectations of the Israeli army (IDF).
In the media review, citing Israeli soldiers in Gaza, one of the surprising things is that Hamas has a very different tunnel network than the IDF had expected.
The Israeli newspaper reported that the Palestinian Resistance militia in Gaza even had sophisticated intelligence capacity ahead of the Al-Aqsa Flood Operation on October 7.

The newspaper’s military affairs analyst, Yossi Yehoshua, revealed that the al-Qassam Brigades has documents that include structural details of the Israeli Paratrooper Brigade, its chain of command and social composition.
“This includes photos of former brigade commanders and other officers who had recently completed their assignments,” the review said.
Yehoshua said that these documents were discovered by IDF paratroop intelligence officers at one of the Resistance militia locations in Gaza.

Regarding the Hamas tunnel system, which has become a focal point of IDF operations, the newspaper described it as “unanticipated”.
These tunnels have served as resistance arteries that have provided Hamas with rapid maneuverability for many years.
An Israeli army officer reported that the Resistance militia tunnels in the northern Gaza Strip, which is closest to the border with the occupied Palestinian territory, were deep and long.
“And (crucially) it was operationally different from what Israeli intelligence expected,” the IDF officer said in the report.
The Israeli officer stated, “No one imagined that this is what we would find there.”
In October, John Brennan, the former CIA director, described Operation Al-Aqsa Flood as evidence of extraordinary Israeli intelligence failure.
“It is clear that Israel does not have the human or technical resources that could give them insight into this. And also, I think it’s becoming clearer now that they misread a lot of the signals coming from Gaza in terms of the activities that Israel was doing. Hamas members were involved in it,” Brennan said.
Brennan hypothesized that the Al-Aqsa Flood operation had been planned for several years.
Additionally, he said that there must have been some “tactical errors” over the past few months that made the operation possible.
“This is clearly a colossal failure,” Brennan said.
