Hamas’s armed wing postpones second release of hostages amid aid dissatisfaction

Hamas’s armed wing has postponed the second release of hostages. Another Hamas source had spoken to the French news agency just before the postponement became known AFP said that the hostages had already been handed over to the Red Cross. Also CNN said it had received such signals.

Reuters reports that the armed branch of Hamas may have delayed the release out of dissatisfaction with the delivery of aid to the Gaza Strip. Israel is said to be insufficiently committed to providing aid. There would not be enough trucks coming to the north of the Gaza Strip, Hamas claims.

An army spokesperson expects the group to consist of thirteen Israeli hostages. Earlier on Saturday there was talk that Hamas would release fourteen hostages.

In exchange for the group of Israeli hostages, who have been held for fifty days, Israel would release 39 Palestinian prisoners later on Saturday.

A prisoner exchange also took place on Friday. Then 24 hostages and 39 Palestinian prisoners were released.
