Hamas names Yahya Sinwar as its new leader

According to an official statement from Hamas, the new head of the group’s Politburo will be the head of Hamas in Gaza, Yahya Sinwar, who is considered the architect of the October 7 massacre in southern Israel.

The publication writes that Sinwar has been hiding in Gaza since the attack on Israel.

The IDF in February released a video taken on October 10 that allegedly showed him walking through the Gaza tunnel with several members of his family. “The hunt for Sinwar will not stop until we capture him, dead or alive,” IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari said at a press conference after the footage was released.
