The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) released images of Hamas leader Yahya Shinwar filmed inside an underground tunnel.
According to the Times of Israel (TOI) on the 13th (local time), the 42-second video released by the IDF showed Sinwar walking inside a tunnel installed underground in the Gaza Strip with his family.

In the video, Sinwar’s brother Ibrahim is leading with a flashlight, followed by Sinwar’s wife and three children walking through the tunnel. One child is holding a doll in his arms, and the other child is carrying a flashlight. Shinwar walks behind his family, holding a bag in one hand.

The IDF said that this video was filmed in the basement of Khan Yunis on October 10 last year, immediately after Hamas attacked Israel. It was said that this scene was confirmed in surveillance video inside the tunnel recovered by soldiers operating in the area.
Only Shinwar’s back was captured in the video. The IDF explained that it was able to identify Shinwar using the ear size of the person in the video and artificial intelligence technology.
IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari said of the video, “It shows Sinwar, the leader and top murderer of Hamas, fleeing through a network of tunnels with his wife and children.” He continued, “He escaped to the safe accommodation we had prepared in advance with his family,” and “We will catch him.”

The IDF also released a video taken inside the Khan Yunis underground tunnel. It had a separate bathroom, kitchen, and bedroom area, as well as a safe containing millions of dollars and cash.
“Senior Hamas officials lived in comfortable conditions,” Hagari said. “The people of Gaza can now see how the Hamas leader lives underground and that he does not care about anything other than himself, his family and money.” He went on to say, “What is important is not the video, but the information that gives us access to high-ranking Hamas officials and hostages,” adding that close relatives of high-ranking Hamas military commanders have been detained and are being interrogated.
