Hamas Leader Omar Daraghma Dies in Israeli Custody Sparking Protests in West Bank

Jerusalem: Omar Daraghma, a prominent Hamas leader in the occupied West Bank who was imprisoned by Israel, has died. Hamas accused Umar, who was captured on October 9, of being deliberately killed. The organization has called for a protest program in Ramallah today against the killing.

The Palestinian Prisoners Association confirmed the death of Omar Daraghma. Meanwhile, Israel claims that Omar, who was ill, was given first aid and died by the time an ambulance arrived to take him to the hospital.

Hamas and Islamic Jihad pointed out that the Israelis killed him. The protest took place in the town of Toubaz, in the northeastern part of the occupied West Bank, where he was arrested.
