- In Qatar, the liquidated Hamas leader Haniyeh is being buried. Yesterday, a funeral ceremony for him was held in Iran. The three Americans who were released yesterday after a prisoner exchange with Russia have arrived in the US. Just before midnight local time, the plane that brought the three from Ankara, Turkey, to Andrews Air Force Base near the US capital Washington landed.
One by one, retired Marine Paul Whelan and journalists Evan Gershkovich and Alsu Kurmasheva descended the steps of the plane, where they were greeted by President Biden and Vice President Harris. As a veteran, Whelan saluted the commander and then embraced him warmly.
