Hamas is holding 155 hostages following its attack on Israel, according to the Israel Defense Forces.
“Efforts to free the hostages continue on several fronts. The military is working to return the captives immediately and without any conditions,” Israeli President Isaac Herzog said.
The country is making every effort to learn about the condition of the hostages and is asking the international community to help in their release. Hamas is not providing any information about the hostages, including their location or health.
“This is a difficult situation because Hamas does not comply with any international humanitarian law in any form or format. For many years they have been holding Israeli soldiers, the bodies of dead citizens from previous rounds, without even providing any information about their fate, whereabouts and their condition,” said the Israeli President.
The Israeli leader thanked the United States for its support. He also noted that some of the hostages needed special medications and treatment. Their health is in critical condition.
Today, President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky said that Ukraine is working with partners to evacuate Ukrainians. The exit of citizens from the Gaza Strip is blocked.
We wrote earlier that the United States is ready to send in its troops to free the hostages, if necessary. There are Americans among the prisoners.
We also reported that Israel has resumed water supplies to part of Gaza. The decision was agreed upon by Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and US President Joe Biden.
