Hamas Goes Crazy, Al Qassam Brigade Missiles Hit Israel’s Tel Aviv

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The military wing of Hamas, the Al Qassam Brigades, launched another rocket attack on Israel, Tuesday (13/8/2024). This happened when Israeli Prime Minister (PM) Benjamin Netanyahu said that his party had almost destroyed the Palestinian Gaza militia group.

In the report XinhuaAl Qassam said it had launched an M90 type rocket into the Israeli capital Tel Aviv from Northern Gaza. The group has not announced any damage or casualties as a result of the attack.

“We launched two M-90 rockets at the Israeli city of Tel Aviv in response to Israeli violations against civilians in Gaza,” Al Qassam said in a statement.

This is Hamas’ first rocket launch in recent months. Israeli media reported that explosions were heard in Tel Aviv but there were no reports of casualties.

The Israeli military (IDF) said the Al Qassam missile landed in the sea. The IDF also did not activate any alarms because it was clear from the start that the entire route was just flying over water.

“At the same time, another round was found fired, but it did not violate Israeli sovereignty,” IDF spokesman Avichai Adraee said.

This rocket launch happened when PM Netanyahu said that Israel had almost ended the military attack on Gaza over the past 10 months. He said that his party had succeeded in weakening and destroying Hamas cells, which had so far resisted Israeli attacks in the area.

However, the facts and forensic analysis show the opposite of Netanyahu’s claims. Report CNN International he said that Israel had not won the war 100% because there were still Hamas cells that were still fighting.

“Israel will say they have cleared an area, but they have not cleared the area completely, they have not defeated the fighters at all. (Hamas) is ready to fight and wants to fight,” said Brian Carter, the Middle East portfolio manager for the Critical Risk Project (CTP) last week.

An analysis reveals evidence from the attack on the Jabalya refugee camp last May. Even though Israel had previously claimed victory in the area, Tel Aviv attacked the area again. This indicates that Hamas cells have not yet lost 100% in the region.

“If the Hamas battalions are largely destroyed, Israeli soldiers will still not be fighting,” said retired US Army Colonel Peter Mansoor.

“The fact that they are still in Gaza, still trying to expel elements of the Hamas battalion shows me that Prime Minister Netanyahu was wrong. Hamas’ ability to regroup its fighting forces has not diminished.”
