The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports that Hamas, the ruling militant group in the Gaza Strip, arrived in Moscow on Thursday, October 26, to discuss the Israel-Gaza conflict. In Hamas in his official Telegram channel stated that the delegation arrived under the leadership of the group’s senior political member, Musa Abu Marzouk, reports Kyiv Independent.
As reported, the delegation met with Russian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mikhail Bogdanov. Discussions with the Hamas delegation in Moscow focused on
for the immediate release of foreign, including Russian, hostages in Gaza,
as well as measures for the evacuation of Russian and other foreign citizens from the Palestinian enclave, the TASS news agency reports Reuters.
The group said in a statement that Hamas representatives commended Russian President Vladimir Putin’s stance and active diplomatic efforts in the conflict and stressed the responsibility of the international community in addressing what it called the “crime of genocide” committed by the Israeli government.

There is speculation about Russian involvement in the Hamas attack on Israel, but concrete evidence is scarce. The head of Ukraine’s military intelligence has suggested that similarities in drone tactics point to possible Russian training of Palestinian militants. The intelligence agency also said Russia had handed over Western-made weapons captured in Ukraine to Hamas to discredit Kyiv.
Maria Zakharova, press representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, said on Thursday that the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran, Ali Bagheri Kani, has also arrived in Moscow. Ali Bagheri Kani is Iran’s chief nuclear negotiator. Iran is a strong supporter of the Hamas group.
The fighting in Israel and the Gaza Strip began after Hamas attacked Israeli settlements on October 7. Israel responded with retaliatory airstrikes against Gaza and a complete blockade of the enclave. Both sides have killed thousands of people, mostly civilians.
