The Palestinian armed group Hamas defended the raid on Israel on October 7 last year, but admitted that the action was faulty and called for an end to Israel’s aggression in Gaza.

In its first public report, Hamas said the raids were necessary to oppose Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territory and a way to secure the release of Palestinian prisoners. In the 16-page report, Hamas also admitted that due to the rapid collapse of Israel’s security and military systems and the chaos caused by the Gaza border area, some errors occurred in the operation. It also pointed out that Hamas fighters are loyal to Islamic values. If there is any Civilians have been targeted accidentally and during confrontations with Israeli forces. Hamas did not explain why it released the report more than three months after the war began.

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu later stated that Hamas demanded an end to the Gaza War as a condition for the release of Israeli hostages. If Israel accepted it, the sacrifices of the fallen Israeli soldiers would be in vain and the safety of Israeli citizens would not be guaranteed.

Hamas raided Israel on October 7 last year, killing approximately 1,140 people and taking approximately 250 hostages. In retaliation, Israel launched a large-scale military operation against Gaza, killing more than 25,100 people there and displacing about 1.7 million people.
