(Elbil24): Revenues for Tesla Norway fell by 46 percent from the record year in 2019 to 2020. Turnover was the lowest since 2016.

Turnover, which reached NOK 11.3 billion in 2019, was reduced to NOK 6.1 billion in 2020, writes Today’s business. In 2018 and 2017, the company had sales of NOK 6.6 billion and NOK 6.8 billion, respectively.

Operating profit fell from 170 million to 92 million, also a decrease of 46 percent from 2019.

The company points to the corona pandemic as a reason for the fall in revenue.

– In 2020, our factory was closed for a period in the spring as a result of the pandemic. This had consequences for the delivery situation in Norway, says communications officer Nora Wisløff Egenæs in Tesla Norway.

2019 was a good year for Tesla in Norway, especially because the Tesla Model 3 was launched. It was sold in 15,683 copies in 2019, but until the end of September last year, only 3,197 copies had been sold.

So far in 2021, Tesla Model 3 leads the electric car registration statistics in this country, with 6277 copies as of July 24. There are also high expectations for Model Y, which has been pre-ordered in large numbers from Norwegian Tesla customers. The first specimens are expected to land in August.
