Halo: The Master Chief Collection gets 120fps update for Xbox Series X and S – Gaming – News

Microsoft provides Halo: The Master Chief Collection with optimizations for Xbox Series X and S. Campaign and multiplayer modes will get a 120fps option, and there will be improvements to the split-screen feature. The update will be available from November 17.

On Xbox Series X, the bundled games will run in resolutions up to 4k. It is not yet clear whether all games can also combine that resolution at 120fps, in the announcement Microsoft calls the improvements separately. The Master Chief Collection includes six Halo games. The graphics options may also differ per game.

Xbox-topman Aaron Greenberg adds that there is support for it cross-gen play, so players on the Xbox One and Xbox Series consoles can play together. The next-gen versions also get an adjustable field of view.

The update for the Master Chief Collection will be available on November 17th. That’s a week after the Xbox Series X and S come out. The bundle can be purchased separately for 40 euros, but is also part of the Game Pass subscription.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection was released for Xbox consoles in 2014. Last year, Microsoft also started releasing the bundle for Windows. The games are released in chronological order and Halo 3: DST was recently released. After that Halo 4 will follow. Numerous graphical improvements have already been made for the PC version.

Microsoft and 343 Industries are now also working on Halo Infnite. That new Halo game had the most important launchgame for the new Xbox consoles, but is after criticism of the graphics postponed to next year. An exact release date is not yet known.
