Halo Infinite is getting a third-person mode

When Halo Infinite is released in 2021, it will be split into two halves, a single-player portion and a separate free-to-play multiplayer portion. The first one offered amazing Halo action, but was quickly forgotten due to the trouble 343 businesses went through.

The big studio couldn’t support the multiplayer component, and as a result single-player games were completely de-prioritized and left behind. It was only last year that developers got hold of multiplayer, and thanks to Forge, new maps, and some big improvements, it’s finally becoming what it was always meant to be.

Now it seems that 343 Business is ready to do some experiments, joining 2024 Halo World Championship they revealed something amazing – a third person mode that will be released in November. At first it was about Firefight, but Colin Cove, senior software engineer at Skybox Labs, said them “You also have the ability to do it in PvP and control it in Forge”.Previously, Halo only switched to a third-person view when you were pulling a turret or driving a vehicle, although unofficial fixes have provided this in the past.

It’s unclear if third-person single player will also be available in the future, but it seems likely that it will be available for more game modes, so it’s not completely out of the question.

It is not clear why 343 Business is focusing on this now. This is not a requested feature, maybe the developers want to gauge interest in this to provide full support from the start in the next Halo? Since Fortnite is third person, you’d think this would be the audience they want to target.

Check out what the game mode will look like via the official Halo Instagram account.
