Halo game servers for Xbox 360 will go offline from January 13, 2022 – Gaming – News

Halo: Reach, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Halo 4, Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo: Spartan Assault, and Halo Wars on Xbox 360 will go offline on January 13, 2022. That is a month later than previously communicated.

According to de Halo Waypoint-blogpost the servers of the older games will be closed so that 343 Industries can fully focus on ‘the future of Halo’. The developer emphasizes that the games themselves will remain playable, but that the online functionalities will become inaccessible.

The blog post is from December last year, but it was previously mentioned that the Halo servers would go offline by December 2021 at the latest. With the new update of the message, that has been moved up by a month. For the first time, a specific date is also mentioned.

The games within Halo: The Master Chief Collection will retain their online functionality, allowing the remasters of Halo: Reach, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Halo 4 and Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary to be played online. Halo: Spartan Assault and Halo Wars are not in the collection and can no longer be online from January 13th.

Monday was the first time in a year gameplay shown from the campaign of the upcoming game Halo Infinite. That game will be released on December 8 and will include a free-to-play multiplayer mode in addition to the paid campaign.
