Västerås SK has not scored a goal in the Allsvenskan since 1997.

Against Halmstad, they missed penalties – and were blown away by a goal, according to Nordin Gerzic.

– It’s inside, says Discovery’s expert.

The match clock had ticked past the hour when Matteo Ahlinvi hit the post.

From there, the ball rolled along the goal line – but according to the home team and the expert commentator, it was over.

– In the pictures we have, it looks like it is inside, says Nordin Gerzic in the broadcast.

The camera angle from above – the one that is usually the clearest – was missing, however.

Penalty miss

Afterwards, Kalle Karlsson got to see the TV images.

– It looks very close, to say the least, says the VSK coach.

Without any technical help, the teams had to play on in uncertainty. And shortly afterwards, Västerås hit the target again.

From the penalty spot.

Jabir Abdihakim Ali was brought down and the same man drew the penalty into the crossbar.

Instead, Halmstad’s Phil Ofosu-Ayeh became the match’s only goalscorer. He headed in the winning goal already in the fourth minute, after the home team failed to clear a corner.

Allsvenskan record

The loss is VSK’s third in a row with 0–1.

– We have had rough situations in all matches, it has been equally frustrating in each, says Kalle Karlsson.

The visitors’ Andreas Johansson had the last ball contact of the match when he headed away a cross.

During the afternoon, he made his 431st Allsvenskan match – and thereby equaled “San Siro-Sven” Andersson’s Allsvenskan record.

– It’s wonderful, of course. I rarely have personal goals, but this is something I’ve had my sights set on for many years. So it’s fun that the day has come, says “Ante G”.

The 42-year-old could be alone at the top when HBK host BP in the next round. For Västerås, an away game against Malmö awaits.
