Weather: HALLOWEEN / OGNISSANTI, departure of NOVEMBER with BOTTO! RAIN and SNOW at low altitude, PROJECTIONS
Halloween, All Saints’ Day and early November with rain and snowSomething is brewing in view of the end of October and the beginning of November.
This is not surprising. Although we are experiencing a stable and rather mild phase for the season (the classic October), it often happens, in this period of the year, that the weather conditions suffer from sudden jolts, going from one extreme to the other, even if only within a few days. And that’s exactly what will happen this time too.
The real news, if anything, is that just in conjunction with the festival, popularly called, of Halloween and with that of All Saints, a large depression area, fed by cold currents descending directly from the North Sea, will first reach central Europe, and then descend further in latitude and dive directly towards the Mediterranean.
The freezing air, once it reaches our country, will have to overcome in some way the obstacle represented by the Alps, with two possibilities: to enter our country from the Porta della Bora, or to enter it via the Rhone Valley: the latter option will win, with the cold mass that will therefore bend towards the west, thus managing to circumvent the Alps, entering from France and giving life to a depression vortex.
RAIN, TEMPORALS and then SNOW too – The disturbance, preceded by humid air and followed by cold air of North European origin, will have an immediate consequence abundant and continuous rains on the Tyrrhenian regions and in the Northwest, the first exposed sectors, and then subsequently extended to the rest of Italy. Eyes focused in particular on the South where, due to the contrasts between completely different air masses, they are not to be excluded severe thunderstorms, with local storms and floods.
Finally, as regards the North, the consequent drastic lowering of temperatures will likely favor the return of name on our mountains, up to low altitudes (even below 1000 meters in the Alps, with tourist resorts such as Cortina which could easily be whitewashed).
Not only All Saints. A little throughout the initial part of November could be characterized by rain and snow in the Alps, due to one recurrence of cyclonic eddies in continuous descent from the North Atlantic. All this, linked to that semi-permanent depression that at this time of the year is located near the North Sea, in jargon known as depression of Iceland.
Needless to say, if all this were confirmed, we could unfortunately find ourselves facing new ones hydrogeological risks for some areas of our country, statistically in danger with this type of configuration.
