Getting a slime shower on TV and then being confronted with the photos of it more than ten years later. That happened to Halle Berry. The actress is angry with rapper Drake, who uses her photo for his new single Slime You Out.
To announce his new single, Drake uses a photo of Berry taken during the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards in 2012. In the photo, the actress’s face is covered in a layer of green slime.
When Berry posts a cryptic message on Instagram shortly after the release of the single, fans quickly think it is about Drake. “Sometimes you have to be the more mature man, even if you’re a woman,” she wrote. Her followers then ask her for her opinion on the photo Drake uses.
“He didn’t get permission. That’s not cool. I expected more from him,” Berry wrote in a response to a follower. “Hence my message today. If people you admire disappoint you, you need to be more mature and move on.”
When a follower tells Berry that Drake doesn’t have to ask permission because the photo is from Getty Images, she reacts strongly. “He asked me permission and I said no. Why would you ask if you plan to do what you want anyway? That feels like a middle finger to me. Do you understand now?”
Drake and R&B singer SZA, who also contributed to the single, have not yet responded to Berry’s dissatisfaction. Berry’s photo still appears on both artists’ Instagram accounts.
