At a time when the family of 19-year-old Yiannis is trying to stand on its feet and gather evidence, in order to assign responsibility, the prosecutor brought criminal charges against three persons, for the death of the young man, who “froze” the Panhellenic people last August, in Luna park of Pefkohori.
The owner of the amusement park and the operator of the fatal game are being prosecuted for manslaughter with probable cause, as an accomplice, while the engineer for simple cooperation in the above act.
“Today, the efforts of the judicial authorities, while simultaneously collecting evidence on my part, resulted in the responsibilities of the people who sent my young man to his death. A basic condition in all of this is that no action and no attribution of responsibilities should stop and will not stop with regard to the part of the local government, which for me are the real moral perpetrators of this whole affair”, states the father of 19-year-old Yiannis, Giorgos Kampailis.
The prosecution was brought by the prosecutor of the first courts, Polygyros, a few days after the three defendants were examined without trial as suspects for the commission of criminal acts, in the context of a preliminary investigation.
As Mr. Kampailis emphasizes: “I believe that tomorrow when we present new evidence to the chief prosecutor of Halkidiki there, the Greek citizens will hear and see things that will really shock them. But the new kids shouldn’t leave, they shouldn’t close houses, they shouldn’t close families and we shouldn’t have people who live with psychological problems because no matter how we do it, an absence of a member, a child, a brother is tragic situation in this family”.
The three defendants will apologize to the investigator in the next period, while the investigation by the authorities continues to establish any criminal responsibilities to other persons involved in the case.
