Halim Perdanakusuma Airport Under Study for Closing

Runway Halim Perdanakusuma Airport (HLP) in East Jakarta reportedly will be closed gradually. The closure will be carried out partially to total closure in the near future.

This plan was stated in the Minutes of the Operational Coordination Meeting at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport on Monday (1/11). The meeting chaired by the Executive General Manager of PT Angkasa Pura II (AP II) Marsma TNI Nandang Sukarna discussed steps to anticipate the impact of operations and techniques related to the closure runway airport.

It is planned that this airport will be prepared from November 2021 until the next 9 months with the concept of prepare for the worst or prepare for the worst.

“If it is later determined to be a partial closure, or even not to be completely closed, it will be easier,” wrote the minutes of the meeting.

Meanwhile, Batik Air asked for the certainty of the timing of the transfer, and asked for assistance for licensing to Soekarno-Hatta Airport.

The coordination meeting resulted in the decision to make a roadmap for the operation plan to anticipate the partial closure plan to total closure.

Contacted separately, AP II Executive General Manager Nandang Sukarna confirmed the minutes of a separate meeting. However, he did not want to comment much on the airport closure plan because it is not under his authority.
