In the first half of 2023, 103 regional development and LEADER projects were supported with over 25 million euros by the state of Lower Austria via the Ecoplus business agency. According to a press release, this triggered investments of around 63 million euros in the regions.
“Strong regions are the basis for a strong Lower Austria. The Ecoplus regional funding makes an important contribution to increasing regional added value, securing local jobs and thus increasing the quality of life on site,” says Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner (ÖVP). Many of the projects are implemented as part of the LEADER program of the European Union. Thanks to the support, EU funds of 2.25 million euros could be collected, which benefit the people in the regions.
“The Ecoplus regional funding supports municipalities, initiatives and associations in the implementation of infrastructure projects that are important for the regional economy. It is important that the projects are characterized by sustainability, innovation, regional anchoring and networking, use regional resources and create added value and jobs in the regions,” says Ecoplus Managing Director Helmut Miernicki.
Projects that have been supported in the past six months are, for example, the further expansion of the Traisental and Ybbstal cycle paths, the Schloss Zeilern arts center and making Atzenbrugg Castle more attractive.
