Half of the 26th season of the Wiener Eistraum is over. After 33 of 66 days of ice skating fun, the organizers draw a positive interim balance.
Vienna (OTS) – There is a great need for exercise in the fresh air. Because in the middle of a metropolis there are currently only a few opportunities to do sports. Since December 24, 2020, the Viennese Ice Dream has offered the Viennese an attractive and safe range of exercise for young and old on a total of 8,300 m2 of ice rink in the open air.
Experience so far shows that the security concept on Rathausplatz has been positively received by guests. “The majority of the visitors adhere to the applicable safety measures in an exemplary manner,” said the organizer, stadt wien marketing, after 33 days of the Vienna Ice Dream and thanks the guests for their cooperation.
Due to the legal requirements to prevent the further spread of Covid-19, a maximum of 1,200 people are allowed to stay on the Wiener Eistraum at the same time this season – half less than in previous years. In the afternoons, evenings and weekends in particular, there may be occasional longer waiting times. However, visitors can get an idea of the situation in advance by telephone and will also be advised of any waiting times on site.
Keep your distance and wear a mask
The protection of all guests and employees has top priority at the Wiener Eistraum. In order to avoid infection with Covid-19, the organizer has commissioned a comprehensive security concept. The legal requirements were sometimes even exceeded. For example, the minimum distance of two meters on the Wiener Eistraum applied from the start.
Close-fitting mouth and nose protection must be worn on the entire site. This may only be removed on the ice rink and only if the minimum distance from people outside the household can be maintained.
Floor markings in the queuing areas and the “Community Distance Markers”, small portable devices that light up, beep and vibrate when the distance falls below 2 meters, help guests comply with the statutory provisions.
The processes on the Vienna Ice Dream are evaluated and – if necessary – optimized. For example, the number of stewards in the outdoor areas has been increased significantly in order to familiarize guests with the applicable safety regulations even earlier and to point out the mask and distance requirements. The registration desks have also been doubled, thereby significantly reducing the waiting time for guests. In addition, since last week, plexiglass walls have been protecting visitors at critical points, for example when buying tickets.
Free school campaign this year too
While some fixed points on the Viennese Ice Dream, such as gastronomy or ice stock sport, cannot take place this year, one thing must not be missing this season: The free school campaign enables Viennese kindergartens, after-school care centers and schools to ice skate free of charge. On all school days, the gym class can be moved to the ice between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., after all, exercise in the fresh air has never been more important than it is now.
The Vienna Ice Dream is open daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. until February 28, 2021. Guests can get all information about the visit at www.wienereistraum.com.
