Banksy’s artwork that partly went through a shredder in 2018 is being auctioned again. The work showing a girl reaching for a heart-shaped balloon was sold three years ago for 1.2 million euros.
Shortly after the sale at the time, it was shown how the work was being shredded for half. A shredder was hidden in the list. Images of it went all over the world. After that, the work was given the new title Love is in the Bin.
“On that surreal night three years ago, I became the accidental but very privileged owner of Love is in the BinThe unknown owner wrote in a statement from Sotheby’s. “It was incredible to be part of the story of how one of the most famous works of art in the world came to be, but now it’s time to let go of the painting.”
The artwork has probably become worth more as a result of the shredding campaign, because the proceeds are now estimated at 4.7 to 7 million euros. The painting will go up for auction on October 14.
