Singer Maria Mendiola died from the hit in the 70s and 80s of the last century Spanish disco duo “Baccarat”. His most popular hit was “Yes Sir, I Can Boogie”.
Mendiola died at the age of 69, the New Musical Express reports, quoted by dir.bg.
The singer’s family also spread the word about her death, without specifying the cause of her death.
Mendiola formed the duo Baccarat in 1977 with Maite Mateos, whom he met while the two were flamenco dancers.
“Yes Sir, I Can Boogie” is their first single. It topped the charts of 10 European countries in 1977 and became a disco classic. More than 16 million copies have been sold. Their first album, named after the duo, was also very successful. The single “Sorry I’m A Lady” followed and it was a hit again.
The duo released two more albums, but in the mid-1980s Mendiola and Mateos separated. They created their own versions of Baccarat, which were less successful.
