– It is quite clear, there are competition regulations to relate to, says Peter Hermodsson, club manager in Mora, to TT.
– An addition was made about covid and that was what we tried to invoke; that we do not have covid but another virus.
But RS is not covid-19 and therefore the competition rules are fixed.
– Of course it’s unfortunate, but it’s the flu they have in the squad, it’s not covid. The competition provision is that you must play if it is not covid, says Erik Ryberg, sports director for Hockeyallsvenskan, to Expressen.
Hermodsson says that he understands the decision, but thinks the rules should be reviewed.
– You are well afraid that if you let this through that more people will want to move matches in the future if you have players injured. Maybe you should review the competition rules. I think there should be something that allows you to move a match on sporting grounds.
The players in Mora are not seriously ill, the RS virus is not normally dangerous for adults. The symptoms in the team are mainly fever, sore throat and cough.
– They are not very sick, but they are not healthy enough to play hockey, says Hermodsson.
Mora will try gather a team consisting of juniors and players who have just recovered before the match with Karlskoga.
The sick in the team are isolated.
– We treat it as if it were covid, with cleaning of changing rooms and such.
The RS virus can be fatal to infants and one of the players who fell ill has recently become a father.
– From what I understand, he has isolated himself from his family.
