Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark Milley said more than 200 of the 419 central districts were under Taliban control.
Late last month, Milley said the Taliban controlled 81 of Afghanistan’s 419 central districts.

“Strategic momentum seems to be in the hands of the Taliban,” Milley told reporters.

“Even though the rebel groups did not take over any provincial capitals, they put pressure on the outskirts, half of it,” he said.

The government accuses the Taliban of destroying hundreds of government buildings in 29 of the country’s 34 provinces.
