Unfortunately, there is still no trace of Half-Life 3, but at least the shooter series with the VR title Half-Life: Alyx will be revived shortly. That’s what Valve has to celebrate and so you can now actually make up for all previous parts for free!

In the past few hours, several Steam users have caused a stir, because they had received a notification from Valve. Accordingly, an event is all about the upcoming release of Half-Life: Alyx planned, in the course of which the previously unknown Half-Life Collection should be available free of charge. A related event page was first taken off the network a short time later and it was temporarily only possible to speculate as to what is now.
In the meantime, this is now certain, because Valve has now officially given the starting signal for this event. Until the release of the VR title Half-Life: Alyx in March 2020, the complete Half-Life Collection, which consists of all previous shooters of the franchise, is available free of charge via Steam.
“Half-Life: Alyx plays before the events in Half-Life 2 and its episodes, but the games share characters and story elements. The team behind Half-Life: Alyx firmly believes that the best way to do that is to be able to enjoy a new game by playing through the old titles again, especially Half-Life 2 and the episodes. That’s why we wanted to make it as easy as possible, “says the corresponding statement.
In short: Half-Life. Half-Life 2. Half-Life 2: Episode One and Half-Life 2: Episode Two can now be downloaded and played for free on Steam. We hope you enjoy catching up on the classic shooter games! The free promotion ends with the release of Half-Life: Alyx in March; there is no specific release date initially.
