Tomorrow, March 23, 2020, is a historic day for the video game industry. Half-Life: Alyx, the first Half-Life game to be released in over a decade. Unsurprisingly, the anticipation of the game is high, as are the expectations. While these are not as high as for a Half-Life 3, which we will probably never see, there is still a high bar that Alyx has to skip. Now there is a first evaluation.
In the latest Edge edition (No. 344) there is a game test for the VR first person shooter Half-Life: Alyx. The rating for the Valve title is good, 9 out of 10 points. Valve will only offer the title as a virtual reality title, no other version is on the way. This VR experience in particular is so highly praised by Edge, hence the high rating.
Although 9 out of 10 shouldn’t surprise anyone now, the Edge is pretty hard with ratings and a 9 is very close to perfection – for them. In comparison, however, they also awarded 9 out of 10 for Half-Life and 10 out of 10 for Half-Life 2. HL2: Episode 1 “only” got 8 out of 10 points.
HL: Alyx will appear exclusively above tomorrow Steam and for VR on the PC. Unfortunately, current ones VR headsets on the market almost out of print because of this game. Therefore, many half-life fans will not (yet) enjoy playing the game tomorrow. No matter where you look, the delivery times are very vague (Link: Amazon.de).
