The big brain behind the new snack – and the reason it bears the name Winky – is Wim Wink. The 68-year-old man has run a cafeteria and eatery in Sint Willebrord in Brabant for over forty years. Although he has handed over both businesses, he still works there every day.

He notices that the Winky is catching on well in the area. “Normally when we try something new, the success diminishes after about four weeks.
