Details of the Hello Hong Kong campaign were revealed by authorities last Thursday. According to CNN, the free tickets will be distributed among the three major airlines, which include the flag carrier Cathay Pacific, but also HK Express and Hong Kong Airlines. Half a million boarding passes will cost the metropolis 254.8 million dollars (5.63 billion crowns).
Travelers who would like to apply for free tickets must visit the World of Winners website, through which the winners will be drawn. In the first wave from March 1st, tickets will be given out to residents of Southeast Asia, from April 1st to residents of mainland China, and from May 1st everyone else has a chance. According to CNN, a fourth wave is also planned from June 1, where locals will also be able to try their luck.
Before the pandemic, Hong Kong was the world’s most visited metropolis. This year, he wants to compensate visitors for almost three years of lockdown and coronavirus restrictions. However, travelers should be prepared that Hong Kong has changed somewhat over the years. Not only because of China, which began to take away its autonomy from the metropolis, but also due to other changes.
For example, the famous floating restaurant Jumbo Kingdom has permanently closed. The cog to the top of Victoria Peak has been renovated again.
