American country singer Hal Ketchum has died at the age of 67.

Several international media have reported the death, including CNN. Ketchum’s death has been confirmed by the country artist’s wife on Facebook.

– It is with great sadness and grief we can report that Hal peacefully passed away in his home last night due to complications of dementia, writes his wife Andrea Ketchum on the musician’s official Facebook-side.

– May his music live forever in your hearts and give you peace, she writes further.

Ketchum was diagnosed with dementia in 2017, according to CNN.

Enter the charts

Ketchum is known for songs such as “Long Haired Country Boy” and “Hearts Are Gonna Roll”, and in 1988 he released his first album, called “Threadbare Alibis”.

During his career, he topped charts a number of times, and Ketchum is said to have sold around five million albums, according to CNN.

The music magazine Rolling Stones writes that the album “Past the Point of Rescue”, which was released in 1992, contained four songs that went on Billboard’s country hit list, including the song “Small Town Saturday Night”.

Lang countrykarriere

According to CNN, Ketchum was a member of the Grand Ole Opry, a weekly concert event for country music, from 1994, and in recent years played at various concert venues in Texas.

Ketchum’s manager Tracie Ferguson says that he realized that Ketchum had something very special when he saw Ketchum perform already in 1985.

“He only needed to sing one note before everyone realized that he had something very special and that it would not be long before the country world would notice him,” the manager tells CNN.
