Hakuna Matata – New York, New York – Voyage

For us, the most differentiating element of the Windelo 50 remains the forward cockpit, a delight. The electric motor also works very well. We have now completed 60% of our loop around the North Atlantic. We left the West Indies and then the Bahamas in early April – roughly a month too early – for the climb up the east coast, with fairly cool temperatures. The ascent with the Gulf Stream was impressive in terms of performance, three to four knots of favorable current for several days. Otherwise, and without current, Hakuna keeps its promises under sail, with a top speed of 22.2 knots – surfing, of course – and fine performances at 13 or 14 knots, without surfing. We have just arrived in Boston and we finally find the beginning of summer. The smaller the ports, the nicer the encounters. We often find free pontoons for passing boats in yacht clubs in small towns: the welcome there is extraordinary, with loan of car, etc. With the American east coast, we find a lot of history and cultural aspects that we had missed, such as museums, adorable cities like Charleston or Nantucket.
