Hakkinen looks in a column for Unibet back at the Russian Grand Prix. Red Bull decided to give Max Verstappen a new engine and as a result he had to start from the back. “That took a lot of courage, but it paid off,” writes Hakkinen.
According to the Finn, Verstappen owes the second place entirely to the pit stop for rain tires. “For a long time it looked like the race was not going his way. He was stuck behind other cars outside the top 5. When the rain came his pit stop was quick and perfectly timed.”
Because Hamilton won the race, he took the lead in the world championship from Verstappen. But with the Dutchman finishing in second place, he is only two points away from the leader. “This championship couldn’t be more exciting,” said Hakkinen.
