Hakim Ziyech stays at Galatasaray and will play in the Europa League

Are Galatasaray giving up on parting ways with Moroccan attacking midfielder Hakim Ziyech? The Turkish club have put his name among the players who will take part in the Europa League this season, thus putting an end to rumours that the 31-year-old could leave for the Qatar Stars League to join clubs such as Al Arabi and Al Gharafa, the Eredivisie or the Greek championship.

Ziyech arrived at Galatasaray in August 2023 from Chelsea on loan with an option to buy. A transfer made in a deal worth €3.6 million ($3.86 million). The Turkish club exercised the purchase option which became free thanks to clauses carried out at the end of the year. But the recent performances of the former Blues attacking midfielder did not really guarantee his stay at the Turkish club.

No longer in Okan Buruk’s plans, he remained on the bench throughout the last two league games against Konyaspor (1-2 victory) and Adana Demirspor (1-5 victory). Luck smiled on him and he will ultimately stay in Turkey. Currently, he is in Morocco to participate in the match between the Atlas Lions and the Panthers of Gabon scheduled for this Friday at the Grand Stade d’Agadir, as part of the first day of the qualifiers for the African Cup of Nations (CAN 2025).
