Hajj Season 317 H, 100,000 Hajj Pilgrims are Finished

This story happened to Hajj season the year 317 H. The Hajj delegation from Iraq led by Mansur ad Dailami departed for mecca and arrived safe. However, suddenly on the day of Tarwiyah (8th Dhul Hijjah), people Qaramithah wreak havoc in the Holy Land.

This sect was led by Sulaiman bin Abu Said al Husain al Janabi, better known as Abu Tahir. This figure is often referred to as the true founder of the Qaramithah Daula and who controls every rule in the Daula.

They robbed the pilgrim’s property and then killed him. Tens of thousands of pilgrims died. Some say 30,000 pilgrims. However, some historians note, in that event, Qaramithah had killed 100 thousand pilgrims.

The massacre was carried out near Kaaba . Abu Tahir stood at the door of the Kaaba with a tight guard watching the swords of his followers run rampant, ending human lives.

With pride he said:

I am God and God is me

“I am with God and God is with Me”

He creates creation, and I destroy them

“He is the one who created the creatures. And I will destroy them “.

The worshipers ran around trying to save themselves. Some hold on to the mosquito net of the Kaaba. However, they could not survive. The swords of the Qaramithah slashed him.

People who are doing tawaf do not escape their swords, including some of the scholars of hadith experts.

After completing his immeasurable crimes against the pilgrims, Abu Tahir ordered his troops to bury the bodies of the victims of his ferocity in the Zamzam well . Others are buried in Haram lands and at the location of the Grand Mosque.

The dome of the well of Zamzam he destroyed. He also ordered that the door of the Kaaba be removed and the kiswah removed.

Next, he tore it up in front of his followers. He asked one of his followers to go up to the Kaaba and pull out the gutters of the Kaaba. But suddenly, the person fell and died instantly. Abu Tahir also gave up his intention to take the gutters of the Kaaba. Then, he ordered to remove the Black Stone from its place.

A man hit and gouged him. With a defiant tone, Abu Tahir boasted: “Where are the Ababil birds? Where are the rocks from the Sijjil Hell?”

The looting of the Black Stone made the Amir of Makkah and his family with the support of a number of troops chase them.

The Amir of Mecca tried to persuade Abu Tahir to want to return the Black Stone to its original place. All the treasures owned by the Amir he offered to redeem the Black Stone. But Abu Tahir did not budge. Even the Amir, his family members, and his troops became the next victims.

Abu Thahir also went home with the Black Stone and the booty from the pilgrims.
