Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
Abraham Lunggana or who is familiarly called Haji Lulung officially declared his resignation from membership of the National Mandate Party (PAN) to return to his old party, PPP.
Lulung admitted that he had made a letter stating his resignation from PAN on September 1, 2021 which was submitted to Ketum PAN Zulkifli Hasan (Zulhas).
“Not moving, but returning to the PPP. If I move, I will jump around. From September 1, I have written a letter to Pak Zulhas. The letter states to stop, not to resign,” Lulung told CNNIndonesia.com, Tuesday (7/9).
It is known, Lulung had moved from PPP to PAN in mid 2018. Lulung said that PPP was fired because he was reluctant to support Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or Ahok in the 2017 DKI Pilkada.
Lulung claimed the main reason for returning to PPP was solely because of pressure from the ulama. The ulema, he said, asked him to re-enlarge PPP. Lulung claims that he has no problems with the top ranks of PAN so far. He said Zulhas had allowed himself to return to PPP.
“I’m sorry to Pak Zul, I returned to PAN. Because of the urging of the ulama. I was given a thumbs up by Pak Zulhas,” he said.
Separately, the Secretary General of PAN Eddy Soeparno confirmed that Lulung had declared his resignation from PAN. He received Lulung’s resignation letter on Friday (3/9).
“It’s true that Pak Haji Lulung returned to PPP. He sent his letter of resignation conveying his intention to return to PPP. Leading PPP Jakarta,” said Eddy to CNNIndonesia.com.
Eddy congratulated Lulung on his new mandate. He claimed to have lost Lulung because he had been together in Commission VII of the DPR since the beginning of the 2019 period.
Eddy also confirmed that PAN would make an Intertime Change (PAW) to replace Lulung’s position in the DPR RI after returning to PPP. It is known, Lulung passed to become a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives from PAN in the 2019 election.
“Although I feel lost because Haji Lulung is my colleague in commission 7. I respect Haji Lulung’s decision. As brothers, we will continue to stay in touch,” said Eddy.
