Haitians crowd outside embassy for a humanitarian flight quota

Tens of Haitian citizens They arrived this Friday at the embassy of their country, in the Providencia commune, in order to get a place on the humanitarian flight announced last week by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Confederation of Production and Commerce (CPC).

Through the “Always for Chile” fund, the CPC agreed to collaborate with the process of returning to their countries of origin about 1,000 migrants, through the financing of six private charter flights to the Dominican Republic, Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela , Cuba and Haiti.

The first of these flights took place on July 13, transferring 180 Dominican citizens. The following day, a hundred Chileans returned to the country from the Dominican Republic.

This morning, at 10:00 a.m., a flight took off to Guayaquil, Ecuador, with 179 Ecuadorians and residents in that country. Upon its return, the same plane will bring about 100 compatriots and resident foreigners who were unable to return to Chile, as a result of the pandemic of the covid-19.
