As announced, the professional federation organized a symbolic action to request the reopening of the salons on December 14th.
“We asked the hairdressers to put their hairdressing chairs outside on Saturday”, declared the president of the professional federation Coiffure.org, Jef Vermeulen. Some of them even styled, while respecting sanitary measures, a member of their social bubble. As a reminder, hairdressers are very disappointed by the decision of the Consultative Committee to keep hairdressing salons closed. The professional federation emphasizes that its members are perfectly capable of opening their doors in a safe manner despite the coronavirus.
Professionals also point out that clients are putting more and more pressure on them to make an appointment “in secret” because they want to be to their advantage for the end of the year celebrations. No less than 80% say they have already been approached by clients for this purpose.
Finally, the support measures are considered insufficient. More than 75% of hairdressers fear that their activity is threatened by this crisis.
