Hairdresser visit in Dresden: Grandchildren donates head of hair for grandma’s wig

The hairdressing salons in Saxony have been closed due to corona for around three months. This has consequences: the twelve-year-old Immanuel Lorenz from Dresden has loden that are more than 30 centimeters long and is often mistaken for a girl. Now he’s tired of it: the mat has to come down. Because Immanuel’s grandmother Petra Nötzold has always wanted a wig, a wig maker in Dresden-Altplauen sets the scissors.

Grandson’s hair for grandma

The head of hair doesn’t really bother Immanuel: “But at some point you have the feeling that you want short hair again. And then I noticed that my grandmother was losing her hair on the side. We said we can do the hair Give grandma. ”

Real handcraft

So Immanuel’s grandma gets a wig made from her grandson’s real hair. To do this, the mat has to come down first. Immanuel’s mother Miriam Lorenz stands by her son. Immanuel’s hair is done by wig maker Katharina Gemeinhardt from the “Capilli Haarwerkstatt”. She fixes the hair in braids so that it can be harvested for the wig. Wig makers are allowed to do this, even in lockdown, for medical reasons. “Anyone who wears a wig or a hairpiece or is undergoing chemotherapy still has the need,” says Gemeinhardt.
