Hailey Bieber diagnosed with ovarian cysts, is this the cause?

The bad news came from Justin Bieber’s wife, Hailey Bieber. Through her Instagram account, Hailey admitted that she has a large ovarian cyst.

“I have a cyst on my ovary the size of an apple,” Bieber wrote while sharing a photo of his bloated stomach on Instagram Stories, quoted by CNN.

“I don’t have endometriosis or PCOS [sindrom ovarium polikistik] but I’ve had ovarian cysts a couple of times and it’s never been fun,” she said.

While she didn’t provide any more information, Hailey shared some of the symptoms she was feeling, such as nausea, bloating, cramping, and emotions.

Cited by the Mayo Clinic, ovarian cysts are fluid-filled sacs caused by problems with the follicles in the ovaries. Ovarian cysts usually appear during the fertile period or during menstruation. In general, ovarian cysts are harmless and can disappear on their own without medical intervention.

However, ovarian cysts can be dangerous if the fluid-filled sac ruptures or is so large that it interferes with the blood supply to the ovary. In addition, cysts that are severe and not treated early can lead to other serious diseases, such as cancer.

Causes of ovarian cysts

Most ovarian cysts form as a result of the menstrual cycle. This condition is normal and rarely becomes serious. Additionally, several conditions such as the following can also cause ovarian cysts, including:

Abnormal cellular reproduction. Atypical cell reproduction can lead to the formation of dermoid cysts and cystadenomas.

endometriosis. These cysts often form in the ovaries in the advanced stages of endometriosis.

Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID). Serious pelvic infections can spread to the ovaries, causing cysts.
