PSM Makassar had to admit the superiority of the Vietnamese club, Hai Phong, in the match AFC Cup 2023/2024. Juku Eja gave up three goals without reply.
First matchday of Group H AFC Cup bring together Hai Phong vs PSM. The match took place at Lach Tray Stadium, Thursday (21/9/2023) evening WIB.
Hai Phong opened the scoring in the eighth minute. PSM defender, Erwin Gutawa, scored an own goal after misanticipating a low cross from his opponent.
The home team almost doubled their lead in the 21st minute. Hoang Nam’s volley in the penalty box hit the goal post.
The ball was then struck by Bicou Bissaninthe. Reza Arya made a brilliant save that thwarted the opponent’s chance.
PSM threatened again in the 32nd minute. Da Silva’s long-range shot was saved by Hai Phong goalkeeper, DT Nguyen.
PSM got a golden opportunity nine minutes later. Everton’s tap-in ball in front of goal was blocked by DT Nguyen. The 1-0 score for Hai Phong lasted until halftime.
PSM played attacking in the second half in order to catch up. Instead of scoring a goal, Juku Eja conceded in the 72nd minute.
Hoang Nam successfully scored a goal from a horizontal shot, maximizing TA Nguyen’s assist. Hai Phong pulled away 2-0.
PENALTY! Hai Phong was awarded the 12th kick in the 84th minute. Rasyid Bakri tackled Hoang Nam in the forbidden box.
Joseph Mpande, who stepped up as penalty executor, successfully carried out his duties perfectly. A score of 3-0 for Hai Phong was the final result of the match.
