The Hamburg zoo Hagenbeck will reopen its outdoor area to visitors from next Wednesday. A spokeswoman for the zoo said on Friday.
Mayor Peter Tschentscher (SPD) had previously stated that Hamburg would take over the “Federal Emergency Brake” to the extent that the outside areas of zoos and botanical gardens could open. The Hagenbeck interior areas such as the tropical aquarium will therefore remain closed.
Mask compulsory in the zoo on weekends and public holidays
When the outdoor areas are opened, the hygiene rules apply, as well as a mask requirement on weekends and public holidays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., as announced by the Senate. Tschentscher emphasized that the Robert Koch Institute continues to recommend wearing masks outdoors if a minimum distance of 1.50 meters cannot be maintained.
Appointment and negative corona test required
In addition, a fixed appointment must be booked before the visit and a negative corona test certificate must be presented before admission. These conditions could delay the opening of the botanical garden, said State Councilor Jan Pörksen. The facility has fewer staff to monitor the regulations.
