Hafia FC Claims Victory in Thrilling Guinean Cup Final

Conakry, Guinea – In a nail-biting finale, Hafia FC emerged victorious in the Guinean League Cup, defeating Renaissance FC through a dramatic penalty shootout on Sunday.

The Petit Sory Stadium in Nongo witnessed a fierce battle between the two Guinean giants. Hafia struck first in the opening half, with star player Mohamed Saliou Bangoura Aloba finding the back of the net. Renaissance FC, however, refused to be defeated and managed to equalize in the dying moments of the match, sending the game into a tense penalty shootout.

Hafia FC, showcasing their composure under pressure, ultimately prevailed, clinching the victory with a 3-2 scoreline. This triumph marks their second consecutive League Cup title, solidifying their dominance in Guinean football.

"The cup was snatched by Green and White Hafia on penalties (3-2), they were the most skilled," an observer noted.

The celebratory mood was palpable as Hafia FC hoisted the coveted trophy, earning a substantial cash prize of 100 million Guinean francs (approximately US $8,700). Runner-up Renaissance FC received 75 million francs (roughly US $6,500) for their valiant efforts.

This remarkable victory adds another jewel to Hafia FC’s crown under the leadership of President Kerfalla Camara KPC.

“[It] is their third title under the time of President Kerfalla Camara KPC after the national cup in 2017, the Ligue 1 championship in 2022 and therefore the cup of this League in 2024."

The win underscores Hafia FC’s rising stature on the African football scene, leaving fans and analysts eager to see what their next move will be.
