Studio Supergiant Games can boast of a unique achievement – Hades, was the first game ever to receive the Hugo Award for Best Video Game. The trophy was awarded to the production during the 79th edition of Worldcon, which is the oldest convention of fantasy lovers.
The Hugo Award is a literary distinction awarded annually by Worldcon participants for science-fiction and fantasy works. It is named after Hugo Gernsback, the founder of the American magazine ?? Amazing Stories ?? and the founder of the award.
Victory Hades commented on Twitter Greg Kasavin, Creative Director of Supergiant Games, who unfortunately did not appear at Worldcon.
I wish I was able to attend the Hugo Awards in person. I was not able to give a speech on behalf of the band there, so I will do it here. I am grateful that awards are given for work in this categoryand even more so for the work we have done!
Please note that the category of the best video game has not become a permanent fixture at Worldcon so far. Its appearance this year has been described as “special”, although its permanent introduction is under consideration, as you can read about here.
