Had Success, What’s the Fate of BlackBerry in 2023? : Okezone techno

BLACKBERRY enjoyed its heyday as a mobile phone about 10 years ago. However, it did not last long.

Operating system BlackBerry OS running on older phones will die soon, leaving phone users wondering about BlackBerry phones running Android.

Quoted from the Cnet page, Saturday, BlackBerry phones running the Android operating system will certainly not be affected on January 4. BlackBerry just discontinued support for BlackBerry OS.

BlackBerrys running the Android operating system include the KeyOne and Key2 models, manufactured by TCL from China. TCL bought the license for the BlackBerry phone brand and released both phones.

Although not affected on January 4th, TCL has actually stopped production of Blackberry since 2020. They only support existing devices until August 2022. A startup called OnwardMobility then took over the license for BlackBerry phones.

Some time ago, they announced that they would release a BlackBerry phone in mid-2021. But, until the year went by, the phone in question never came out.

BlackBerry announced that the BlackBerry 10 operating system, Blackberry 7.1 and earlier versions cannot be used to make calls, send SMS and call the 911 emergency number.

The internet and WiFi networks can’t really work after January 4th. In other words, the BlackBerry OS is dead or unusable.
