KARANASEM, BALI EXPRESS – The increase in cases of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) has returned to haunt the community in Karangasem Regency. In fact, the case of the Aedes aegypti mosquito bite caused one DHF patient who was being treated at the Bali Med Hospital, Karangasem, namely, I Kadek Sudiastika, 11, to die on Wednesday (11/5).
The fifth grade elementary school boy from Timbul Hamlet, Bungaya Village, Loaddem breathed his last in the ICU room of the hospital. From the explanation of the victim’s family, Ni Nengah Sunarti, Sudiastika died in the morning at around 05.30, due to low platelets. “Yesterday (Tuesday) he was just admitted to the ICU because he said his blood was frozen, the IV couldn’t enter, and this morning he was declared dead because his platelets were low,” explained Sunarti when met at the funeral home.
Sunarti said that before Sudiastika was treated, she initially took care of her sister who was hospitalized with dengue fever, because seeing her pale face, she was advised to have a blood test. However, at the first examination, Sudiastika was not declared to have DHF, but was still told to do a check-up in the next few days.
When he came for control, Sudiastika tested positive for dengue, and was immediately treated right away, on Monday (9/5). “After two more days he was under control, only the platelets were positive for DHF, and he was immediately treated with his brother. Next to her sister, she was immediately treated,” he explained.
Currently, the victim’s body is still in Bali Med Hospital. It is planned that Sudiastika will be buried at the local setra on (17/5).
While the P2P Division Staff in charge of the Karangasem Health Office’s DHF Program, Wayan Gede Sweca admitted that his party had not received an official report from the hospital. But he admitted that someone had traced the truth, and it was true that he was declared dead of dengue. “Hearing information from community leaders there, we came directly to the hospital, and it was true that he died of dengue,” he said.
