Jakarta –
The youth teams of Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid football clubs will compete in Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) next February. The match of the three big Spanish clubs will coincide with the soft launching of JIS.
“Hopefully in early February we can have a soft launch with the international matches of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atlético Madrid U-20 or U-19. Yes, (the match) will be accompanied by a soft launch,” JIS Project Manager Arry Wibowo told reporters on Friday. (14/1/2022).
Arry said that currently the progress of the construction of the international standard stadium has reached 93.85%. Therefore, he estimates that the soft launch can be carried out in early February after completing the rest of the project work.
“So in February there will be a soft launch for the international youth championship later around 5-12 there will be a soft launching of JIS,” he explained.
Arry said that currently his party is completing the work on the main stadium area. One of them is the installation of a transparent ETFE membrane roof where the roof can be opened and closed.
“Because this stadium has a roof that opens and closes, we are currently working on the installation process for the frame or roof truss that opens and closes,” he explained.
Previously, DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan postponed the soft launch of the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) to prevent the spread of the Omicron variant. Anies said his party would support the central government’s steps in limiting activities that invite crowds so that they have the potential to transmit COVID-19.
“This includes the suspension of the JIS soft launch until the pandemic situation and the spread of the Omicron variant virus have been more controlled and more predictable,” Anies said in a virtual conference, Friday (12/3/2021).
In addition, Anies postponed the matches for the youth teams of giant Spanish clubs, Real Madrid U18, Atletico Madrid U18, and Barcelona U18 to be aware of the entry of a new variant of Corona into the country.
The three Spanish clubs were originally scheduled to compete in the International Youth Championship (IYC) in Bali and Jakarta on 4-11 December 2021. However, the Indonesian government imposed restrictions on the entry of foreigners abroad to prevent the Omicron variant.
