The man who died from a police bullet in Chernihiv had mental disorders and terrorized his neighbors. They say, they say, since he had a partner, they were constantly scandalous in the apartment.
On May 14, he threatened to stab a woman, threw another knife at a neighbor, and then attacked the patrolmen. Details of the fatal incident are discussed in the plot TSN (to watch the video, scroll the news to the end).
It is noted that three police officers came to the call because of a quarrel that day. Through the doors to the room, they heard a scream, but no one opened them, so they decided to knock the lock. Then a man with knives in both hands rushed at them.
The Chernihiv patrol police explained that at first their officers tried to reach out to the brawler by persuasion, but he “behaved aggressively, did not respond to the police’s calls to throw knives and not resist.”
“At some point, the man suddenly began to approach the patrolmen, holding knives in his hands, thereby reducing the distance to the police. And even then they switched from words to the most severe coercion – a service weapon,” explained the acting head of the patrol police department in Chernihiv region police captain Denis Grishchenko.
At the same time, residents of the entrance say that then they heard more than one shot. The man died before the ambulance arrived. The neighbors added that the deceased and his partner had never been an exemplary family, they constantly quarreled. According to them, the man was disabled – he had schizophrenia. He often lay in a mental hospital, his parents died.
But whether law enforcement officers used weapons lawfully is now being investigated by the investigators of the State Bureau of Investigation. The fate of the patrol crew will be clear from its results. It is known that the police have not yet been removed from work.
In the five years since the creation of the patrol service, this is the third case of the use of weapons by Chernihiv law enforcement officers, and the last one became fatal for the attacker.
